Mother’s day this year is the 12th of May. Are you all set?
Mum…it’s a very small word with such a big meaning. A Mother is so many things and works 24 hours a day, without holiday days, sick leave, overtime or days off.
You might say one day for all Mothers out there just isn’t enough and you would be right. Thankfully there is a day dedicated to Mother’s, it’s your chance to show just how much you love, care and appreciate all she has done for you.
If you are not yet sure how to do that or you are looking for some ideas on how to celebrate Mother’s day this year. Why not check out our top 5 ideas below and let us know how you get on.
5 Amazing Ways To Celebrate Mother’s Day
High Tea
Last year, my sister and I arranged an at home afternoon tea for our Mother and Grandmother and it was perfect. We had mini sandwiches, tiny pastries and gallons of tea from our very own Uccello Kettle.
To add to the experience we even bought 4 silk scarves to wear and took down an old china set to be the ”ladies who lunch”. It was great.
It didn’t break the bank, we went to our local Woolworths, picked up all the supplies and assembled them onto a tiered cake stand to add to the experience.
Quick Tip: Try to get your Mum’s favourite sandwich filling or sweet treat. It will be a big hit.
Bingo
Bingo is a great game for all ages. There is plenty of laughs and fun to be had by all. How you play your bingo is totally up to you. You can go to the local bingo hall or (if you haven’t booked or found anything) you can create your own bingo hall at home.
By going to the local discount store you will be able to pick up some nifty prizes such as a money box, funny cups, stationary. It doesn’t have to be anything big, the main event is the game of bingo.
Garden Picnic / BBQ
We were all cooped up for so long during the pandemic. Many are still a little unsure about getting out and about into society again so it might be a nice idea to dress up the table and chairs and head outside. Within seconds, you can have a 5 star dining experience for Mum.
Cook and bake her favourite foods while reminiscing about the good old days. Mum will love it.
Wine Tasting
If Mum is fan of wine and would love a wine tasting but there is no where around offering one. You can host your very own at home. We shopped around in the supermarkets for the small single serving bottles in order stay within budget and got a good variety of some delicious wines.
On top of that, we gathered various different cheese, meat and cracker selections to really make a night of it and everyone loved it. We may have been a little tipsy but it was safe and fun for all.
Learn Something New Together
You are never too old to learn something new. If you think about it, your mum has always been your biggest cheerleader. Now, it’s time to show her the same level of support in learning a new hobby or craft together.
Whether it’s fondue, knitting, painting or pottery, it’s a great way to celebrate Mother’s day and more. It could be something you do together and its the perfect one-on-one time with mum.
