In Australia, over 3.6 million people are living with arthritis or other similar conditions that affect their joints. Here, at Uccello, we understand arthritis and are here to help make people’s lives easier with our daily living products, such as the Uccello Kettle.
It was our founder, Andy (who was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis) who designed and developed the Uccello Kettle. As time went by, he found, using the kettle to be painful, frustrating and sometimes dangerous. It was time for something easier in the kitchen.
Let’s dive into understanding more about arthritis and how our Uccello Kettle is the best kettle for arthritic hands.
Understanding Arthritis:
There are more than 100 types of arthritis out there and the symptoms from one person to another can vary. For many living with this condition, it can feel like:
- Your movements are restricted because of pain and inflammation.
- Inflammation in and around your joints.
- Joint pain where the joint is affected and can feel sore and tender.
- Warm red skin over the affected area that can be uncomfortable.
- Overall weakness of the joints where you may find it hard to lift or pick items up.
Arthritis in the Kitchen:
Whether you or a loved one is living with arthritis, most of what happens in the kitchen can cause pain for arthritic hands and joints. There can be pain when:
- Peeling vegetables
- Opening jars
- Washing dishes
- Lifting heavy cookware and
- When pouring a kettle for a cuppa
Many say that the kitchen is the heart of the home but can this be for those living with arthritis when they associate the kitchen with pain? While we can’t help you peel the vegetables or wash the dishes (yet), we can help you by taking the pain and fear away when it comes to boiling the kettle.
In Australia, close to 9 million people love to drink at least 1 cup of tea per day and with 3.6 million living with arthritis, that is a lot of people suffering from inflammation and pain when it comes to popping the kettle on.
Uccello Kettle: The Perfect Kettle for Arthritic Hands:
Our Uccello Kettle was specifically designed to help those living with arthritis. Unlike other kettles and kettle-tippers, the circular shape of the kettle with it’s rotating cradle moves around the body of water to create a smooth, effortless pour every time.
With the Uccello Kettle, you will never need to lift, balance or strain yourself for a cuppa again.
We have now made life that little bit easier with the launch of our Uccello Grip Mat, the perfect cup guide for your Uccello Kettle. Simply place the mat at the 2 front feet of the kettle, put your cup in the center ring of the mat and you will never have to worry about where to place your cup again.
How do you fill the kettle without lifting it
Vicki, the kettle can be filled in 2 ways.
1. You can remove the kettle body from its base and fill it at the sink.
2. You can use a jug or a cup to fill the kettle. This way you are only ever lifting the weight of a cup of tea and not the full weight of a hot kettle. This option is the preferred option for many of our customers.
We hope this helps.
