Our team here at Uccello Designs, works closely with a number of Occupational Therapists around the globe. We do this in order to better understand their work, patients and how both can be better served by Uccello and its daily living products.
To this day, many are still unsure about what occupational therapy actually is and the role of the Occupational Therapist (OT).
The overall aim of an OT is to help improve the quality of life for all of their patients. This is a goal that closely follows ours as we want to help make people’s lives easier.
What is Occupational Therapy?
This is where an OT offers supports to those who may have physical, psychological and/or social problems and helps strive for good quality of life.
They can work with people of all ages and abilities and would not have a specific location for work. You can find OT’s in hospitals, clinics, schools and they can visit you at home too.
In short, an Occupational Therapist helps you to be able to carry out your day-to-day activities for a good quality of life.
How Can An Occupational Therapist Help?
The most common tasks carried out by OT’s will include:
- Helping you to find and learn new ways of doing things.
- Help you to regain skills and develop new ones.
- Show you how to use daily living aids and equipment that will make your life easier, such as our Uccello Kettle or hand rails on the stairs etc.
- Help you to adapt your home or workspace in order for you to freely use and move around in.
Uccello Designs Assistive Living Products & Occupational Therapists:
On a regular basis, we speak at length with a number of OT’s. Each and every time their care and dedication has shone through. They care for their patients on a deeply personal level, it is wonderful to see.
They are always eager to learn about new daily living products on the market. Products that will help their patients regain or maintain confidence and independence while making their lives easier.
It wasn’t long after we introduced them to the Uccello Kettle that they where to excited to learn more and share with their patients. We sent a number of kettle’s out there for OT’s to try and this is a sample of some of the amazing feedback we received.
”It’s funky design has certainly caught our patients’ eye and the unique pouring function is a safe, ergonomic way for people to pour hot water – even those without a hand injury or condition! We are happy to recommend this product to anyone.”
–Rachel Ross, Hand Therapy Occupational Therapist, Hand Works WA
”We have been taking the kettle out to lots of seniors’ events and recently out to the southwest. There were lots of interest and positive comments. It’s great that there is finally a kettle that has form and function and hopefully as a a result I hope you have lots of orders. Congratulations we all love it at ILC.”
–Amanda, Occupational Therapist, Independent Living Centre, WA
”One of the common complaints we have from patients is difficulty with pouring boiling water from a kettle to make tea or coffee. Uccello has come up with an effective and stylish design – The Uccello Kettle – which makes this simple daily ritual effortless for an individual with hand mobility issues.”
–Elisha Stefanelli, InHand Occupational Therapy
”The unique handle design provides a stable grip, the kettle is light when removed for refill and has a stable base, improving safety…useful for those who experience weakness in their hands, wrists or arms and those who have to be seated or can only use one hand.”
-Emma Clifford, Occupational Therapist, Wilson Outreach
